Connecting Within ~ Meditations to help during this time of uncertainty

Feeling the feelings

Today's video blog is about moving through pain.  Why we have to acknowledge pain in order to feel more positive feelings.

The only way around is through ~ Robert Frost.  While it can feel incredibly scary to take the risk of feeling, without it you may miss the most beautiful experiences of your life.

  1. Thank you for doing this vlog 🙂
I know that i used and still use to a point, at least 3 of these. Since i asked the question about minimising I did do some research of my own but, when you used the example of comparison as a way of minimising that really hit home, and made complete sense. I find myself doing this all the time. Probably something I will now second guess when I engage in that coping skill. I'd just never thought about it in that way.

  2. I came across your YouTube videos right after I found out my mother sexually abused me. I had flashbacks and other side effects. Long story to tell you how I finally found out it was actually true and it happened. Your videos have helped me tremendously. Beyond words. I cannot express my gratitude. - Melissa

    1. Hi Stephanie,
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. I apologize for the delay in responding. I'm hoping you've found someone to work with. If not, I would encourage you to contact your local rape crisis center. They offer free or low cost services or may be able to offer suggestions for someone in your area. You can do an internet search for "rape crisis" with your zip code.

  4. Just wanted to thank you for this video and coping strategies. I was sexually abused from 5 to 17. and my mother knew about it. I have been in therapy off and on since 17 and now I am 51. But I had no feelings. just numb and detached. I recently went to sexual assault center and off one of my meds and the feelings just poured out. they keep losing their therapist so I have all these feelings and no one to talk to.

I have use all 4 coping mechanism and watching your video hit me and will change my life

    1. Hi Diane,
I'm so glad the video helped. I can definitely relate to being numb and detached. I'm sorry to hear you've not been able to continue with the same therapist. Please don't give up on finding someone to continue to support you on this journey. I'm not sure what your circumstances are, but I offer virtual (online) mentoring for healing. If you're interested, you can find more on the "your journey" page.
