If you're on TikTok, you've likely come across Mama Tot. She became very popular and beloved by many on the platform for her support and nurturing nature of people who often don't feel very supported.
In a recent video she expressed visible anger around something that was based on lies (therefore sharing those lies with her followers).
As a result, many of her followers who believe(d) she was a genuine advocate for them, felt hurt and confused.
In this video, I talk about the feeling of betrayal this can create. It's not about her or what she does. It's about the very real experience so many people have had around many types of issues through the years.
It's about the emotional impact when someone we trust seems to be aligned with things that hurt us. That sense of betrayal can really mess with our ability to trust others, and for survivors of trauma, it hits even harder.
I'd love for you to share your thoughts.
If you've even wondered where I stand... I believe in human rights. I believe in social justice. I believe in empathy and kindness. I believe in equality... no matter your skin color, gender, religion (or no religion), economic status, etc. I believe that perpetrators and people who believe the rules and laws don't apply to them should never be in a position of power or leadership.
I also believe every survivor deserves and is worthy of healing. ❤️
