Episode Description:
This episode originally aired on YouTube.
Whether it’s watching fiction on television or the 24 hour news and images of the devastation across the world, it’s nearly impossible to not feel the impact of the trauma so many are experiencing.
For survivors of childhood or complex trauma, the impact can feel even heavier because it tangles into the web of our own trauma… fear, betrayal, heartbreak, and grief.
In this episode, I share something I hope serves as a reminder of the importance of honoring yourself while still being present with other things that matter to you. I also share a guided practice to help us ground as a collective.

Episode Notes:
- Neglect is often overlooked in discussions of childhood trauma, yet it has profound impacts on emotional development and psychological well-being.
- Neglect is difficult to recognize and acknowledge, even for therapists, because it involves the absence of necessary emotional and physical support rather than the presence of overt abuse.
- The absence of essential needs in childhood, such as emotional security and attachment, disrupts the development of self-worth, emotional stability, and trust in relationships.
- Many people minimize their experiences of neglect by focusing on their physical needs being met or comparing themselves to others who had it worse, which complicates the healing process.
- Healing from neglect is complex and requires addressing the often intangible wounds caused by unmet emotional needs, which can persist even after extensive therapy if not specifically targeted.
