Episode Description:
Have you ever experienced a moment of success or happiness, only to be immediately overwhelmed by anxiety, self-doubt, or the fear that something bad is about to happen?
In today’s video, I’ll talk about what it means to allow yourself to feel good after trauma, how to lean into those moments, and how they play a role in your healing process.
We’ll dive into why connecting to your body in these moments matters, and how it helps you build trust and safety within yourself. Healing is about more than surviving, it’s about finding your way back to joy.

Episode Notes:
Emotional Responses to Positive Experiences: When something good happens, feelings like fear, anxiety, self-doubt, or even shame often rush in, leading to a sense of unease and a tendency to prepare for something bad.
Self-Protection Mechanism: These reactions are rooted in self-protection, reinforcing feelings of unworthiness and the habit of anticipating negative outcomes to shield against potential disappointment or hurt.
Shifting the Response: Healing involves recognizing these automatic responses, sitting with discomfort, and allowing oneself to internalize the positive experience without judgment.
Building Acceptance: Practicing acceptance, such as receiving compliments, involves reflecting on the feelings, noticing bodily sensations, and gently countering negative thoughts by considering the possibility that others' positive perceptions are genuine.
Creating New Patterns: By revisiting past positive experiences and challenging the "waiting for the other shoe to drop" mindset, one can gradually change emotional patterns, enabling a deeper connection to joy and a sense of worthiness.
